It’s no surprise that Savannah was voted one of the best walking cities in America. Founded in 1733 by James Oglethorpe, the grid-like design of our downtown was envisioned by him more than 250 years ago, and makes Savannah truly unique in the United States. Our historic district is one of the largest in the U.S. with more than 1,100 historically and architecturally significant buildings. They include examples of Federal, Victorian Regency, Greek and Gothic Revival, and Italianate architecture. During the course of 90-minutes, the tour will consist of visiting some of the essential Savannah landmarks, starting with Franklin Square, off historic City Market we’ll make our way through all 4 original squares, and even a few lost ones.
